I willing want to retire from a partnership firm.

I was a part of a partnership firm from past 3 years and now i want to get separated and start my own business. However, i am taking the project which i started in the firm. What all agreements do i have i to enter in with my partners so that i am not legally obliged to the firm and even the product rights are given to me in exchange of my shares in the firm. Do i have to make any public statement stating that i am no more a part of the firm. Will a retirement agreement be enough to close the deal.
