Education loan a/c deemed as npa by the bank

My elder sister has taken an Education loan from the Bank of about Rs.1,97,000(principal amount), repayment amount was Rs.2,45,000/-. The loan taken on 5.11.2005. The repayment was due but however she managed to pay off Rs.2,25,000 as on date. The bank officials have declared it an NPA since an year or so but still she is every month paying off her EMI. A week back she has received a letter to meet at the Lok adalat & settle off the dues which currently they are showing to Rs. 2,00,000 over & above the payment made. So please suggest.

Ur sister might have paid the amount by cheque if not she has show the cash receipt paid to the bank.Generally bank will credit the amount to ur account from that they transfer to her loan account.Anyhow ur sister has to prove her payment.Generally banks will not cheat but there may slipshots in accounts.
