Change of name - passport

Hi, My wife got changed her name [for passport purpose] around 7 months ago [oct 30, 2013]. She got affidavit done, and also gave ads in two newspaper. Now she got an appointment in Passport office and they said, she has to get new affidavit, as affidavit is not valid. So, 1. Is there validity for change of name affidavit? 2. Also, if she gets new affidavit - does she need to give ad in newspapers again. Please guide.

Marriage never means one has to change one's name as such , she can always maintain her maiden name so her husband his own name and only what is needed is the marriage certificate that both were married to each other appropriately before a marriage sub registrar. Else these kinds of problems arise,

what was your marriage certificate that can help her get the passport, by filing a suitanle affidavit, stating a fact by an oath that is affidavit.that is all.

Nothing more. nothing less.
