I am defendant in a civil suit, which was pending for cross examination of the plaintiff, who did not turn up for past dates. Now they have shifted to the case to lok adalat. what is the procedure and role of lok adalat? can I file 340 in lok adalat against the plaintiffs?

Lok Adalt will entertain only when both parties arewilling to settle their issue amicably. If you are not consent for disposal at lok adalat you may insists the Trial court to proceed further. When you are resdy for cross-eaminsation but the plaintiff witness not turned up you request the trial court to pass orders under Order 17 rule 2 cpc
