My sister is an NRI and a US citizen.
My brother gave an agricultural land, in Andhra Pradesh, to my sister in the form of a gift deed.
The land is the family property coming from our ancestors.
After that we came to know through friends, that an NRI cannot own an agricultural land in India.
Somebody said that we need to pay penalty to RBI. Is that true?
How cam my sister make this land legal?
What options she has now?
If penalty need to be paid, then what is the procedure and whom should we approach?
