  • Ashok Kumar Garg says : Stamp duty on agreements
You have replied that every agreement is required to be on stamp paper. Please quote the article of the Schedule to Stamp Duty Act which covers all types of agreements. What about oral agreements? Do you mean that no oral agreement ( even though not disputed by the other party) be enforced ? If an agreement which could have been an oral agreement , is reduced to writing on a plain paper , it would be impounded by the judicial authority? It will not be impounded . What is required to be impounded is a document which does not bear full stamp duty. There is no SWEEPING PROVISION which requires every agreement to be in writing. If there is any such provision , kindly enlighten us with precise provision / citation. Ashok Garg ashok@ashokgarg.in
