Dear Expert's
My wife is slected for govt. job under OBC quota as per her surname before marriage, now my wife surname change as per my surname. my question is certificate of OBC of my wife village will be valid or not. Because somebody says that after marriage wife surname is not valid for any document and it is connected with husband surname. so please give me advice, i am confused. (My wife surname comes under OBC) but my surname not comes under OBC

It is not the surname rather caste which matters and decides whether a particular person comes under the category of OBC or not. In case your wife bears certificate of OBC on the basis of her before marriage address and cannot get prepared similar certificate after marriage (because you do not come within OBC)then your wife is not entitled for taking of benefit of OBC.

Yes Makkadji is right. But I wish to add that there are some precedents wherein Government authorities have admitted the Caste even after marriage on grounds that all such recruitment processes have been completed before marriage and Right to Marriage as per choice irrespective of caste is left to the sole personal discretion of the candidate where the Government cannot hold locus standii

name change will not change the caste and OBC quota will never change for name change
