The previous employer can make service verification up to the date on which you were relieved officially by handing over of charge of your previous post.

Any government employee who rendered a minimum service of 3 years is eligible for joining time and he can avail transit period. only in some cases, no joining time will be allowed. the duty period in old post is 29 days from 01.07.16 to 29.07.2016, then the period from 30.07.2016 & 31.07.2016 and 01.08.2016 shall be the transit peiord which may be allowed with or without pay, and that transit peiord will be counted for pension and verification of service also. However verify the rules of your present organisation or ask your seniors of present working place.

The period in question is covered by Joining Time.
Guest (Expert) 05 June 2018
Question of joining time does not arise in case of resignation, may that be a technical resignation.
