How to forfeit the share in property

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 09 April 2018 This query is : Resolved
My father died 20 years back when i was minor. the property was transferred in the name of my mother and sister. now I am a major and want to forfeit my share in the house officially what is the procedure so that tomorrow my mother and sister does not face any problem from my wife side.
Ms.Usha Kapoor (Expert) 09 April 2018
You execute a Release or relinquishment deed releasing all your right, title and interest in that property in favour of your mother and sister and get it registered. In future your wife wouldn't lay any claim over that property

Agreeing with Ms. Usha Kapoor..
Get a copy of the property related documents and any court order on property and mutations records…..
Having attained adulthood ; You are at liberty to dispose your share in anyone’s favor by any valid/registered deed e.g; release/relinquishment/gift/settlement/sale etc …..in anyone’s favor e.g; Mother.
It shall be perfectly in order…

I agree with the experts.. get a Release deed / relinquishment deed prepared in the name of your mother and sister with respect to your share in the said property and get it registered at the office of the Sub-registrar where the property is located..
