I have issued a cheque of my SBI SAVING A/c of Rs 11566/- To Oriental Insurance Co. On 1/09/2017 For my Car Insurance which was expiring on 04/09/2017. I was informed by Bank via SMS that my cheque was bounce as on 09/09/2017 & on same day i paid Rs 11566/- To insurance Co. . On 16/09/2017 I have received a registered leter from insurance Co. (Dispatch Date 13/09/017) that my cheque issued on 01/9/2017 is bounced due to Insufficient Fund and my Car policy is canceled , but as per my statement there is sufficient balance in my account during these period. Check with your banker for the reasons of dishonouring your cheque.
No case for harassment/maan hani is made out, however, you can move to Consumer fora for deficiency of service and/or Banking Ombudsman for necessary action, if the cheque was dishonoured for invalid reason.

Nowadays, cheques are not sent physically in clearing houses, the scanned images are sent for clearing. Many a times it may happen that scanned image is improper and the cheque is dishonored. At the best you take a letter from the bank and forward the same to insurance company if you do feel to convey to them about the cause beyond your control.
