How should i be careful
Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 06 August 2017
I got married 3months ago in india to and NRI.After a couple of weeks we flew to US.We did not register our marriage in india as he is a US citizen , him and his parents ( who also are living and working in US) said we would do it when we get to US. After getting here they never discussed about it and on being questioned they said we will wait for 2 months. Now there are issues between me and my husband ( mainly because of his parents).I am here on visit visa which expires in 2 months. So what is the procedure if we get separated?Should we file for divorce as we never registered? How do I know if all this was preplanned? Please help as i am confused if should separate or not.If they had already preplanned this all this while then I definitely don't want to stay in this marriage. Please help

If you are into a preplanned false marriage albeit in traditional Hindu Marriage way with no honorable intentions of commitment to that marriage from groom side you come back to India and file divorce within the local limits of whose jurisdiction the marriage was performed or within the local limits of whose jurisdiction you reside. If you are able to convince him for MCD that is the quickest mode of divorce. But for MCD or Contested Divorce after Marriage at least 1 year time gap should be there for divorce..

Just because not registered, it cannot be the marriage is false or that it is not legal. The question whether the marriage was solemnized as per the custom?

Yes it was performed as per all the customs and rituals in front of a crowd of 500 people
