Registration of optionally registrable documents and time limits

Indian Registration Act provides for presentment for registration of executed documents within 4 months of execution and in case of delay next 4 months from the expiry of first four months with additional fees.
Is this provision of time limit is also applicable on documents which are optionally registrable ?

Registration is Mandatory for all Documents.Any Unregistered document will be Legally invalid as Per Supreme Court.There could be very Few exceptions Like Will but even Registration of a Will would be advisable.Author could refer which document you are Particular about

Ragistration is mandatory for documents mentioned in Section 17 of the Registration Act .
