You can put an application for correction of errors in the decree. The court after checking the court records would give the corrected decree to you.

While agreeing with the advice of expert Mr.Kapoor, as regards rectification of such name corrections for Government/Bank jobs, you need to produce an affidavit stating this error. They will give a format of affidavit which you need to get notarized to solve your problem. Nothing to worry.

Ld. Jaggarao,

I think the query was of misprinting of name in divorce decree only and not about name change.

Apply to court for correction of errors.

It is common that Indian names, while written English, may be different spellings. No prudent authority makes heavy wind of it. Even in such an eventuality, the objection could be met through a simple affidavit.

Make an application if it is typographical error or miss-spelled, and request for rectification
