Dear Experts
I am an IT expert but has shifted to village for last 18 months and all villages suffered with water problem
During April and May and the Water Supply Authority failed to provide water this year. So i took the initiative for supplying water to 4 villages and collected the money from villagers after taking their consent in writing. The money collected is same as the Water Authority use to collect. When the water authority heard this, they say that they can arrest me for my social work. Can they do so?. The authority is Grampanchayat itself.
I just did the work which they are supposed to do. Please let me know, i am upset when they said of arrest.

From th facts stated, the threat is without any understandable meaning.

Social service cannot be converted into paid service and the money collected may be for the expenses but it cannot be called as social service especially if you indulged alone in this activity. This can be termed as an illegal act for the purpose of earning money without any licence or authority.
So dont rub shoulders with the authority and settle the issues amicably instead of fighting legally which has remote chances for a decision in your favor.

Dear Experts,
We all villagers decided to get water by repairing borewell which was left to rot by the grampanchayat and then applied for electricity meter and the money was used for same. The borewell belongs to villagers and not panchayat. Do we don't have any right to make our own arrangemet s. Pls let me know.
