Dear Mohan, at first you need to ascertain whether the girl's father has any proofs about the payment of dowry amount like photographs or cheques made out in your name. In case they have some proof then be prepared for a long legal battle. S 498 is being used most inappropriately so whether you are in India or abroad you and your relatives are going to be in some trouble. Forget marriage then with the present one or others in the recent future. Besides you need to contact a good advocate who could advice you about the precautions you need to take. Further it would be good if you could talk to your fiancee and sort out things. By your submissions here it appears to me that you are driven by affection towards your family that you feel that the interference of your sister and mother in your fiancee's matter as normal. It is no longer right. Women feel threatened by such interferences and uncalled for advices. So please dont rush through for a cancellation when the other side is prepared for a case against you. Where are you based. If you are from hyderabad, I could suggest some good professional help.
