Rti act 2005

(Querist) 24 September 2013 This query is : Resolved
I had sent around 90 rti petitions to the IIT Madras to get some documents and information duly certified. These 90 petitions are repetition of the same queries.

But the CPIO IIT Madras instead of providing the documents duly certified ordered me to extract the information on inspecting the documents. On appeal and even on informing my inability to spend money the CPIO/AA did not agree to my request.Similarly, the CIC New Delhi too up held the decision of the IIT Madras.

However most strikingly, the High Court Madras and Kerala ordered that petitioners should not be ordered to inspect and extract the information even it is voluminous and CIC too in several cases ordered to provide the information without inspection.

On the same analogy can I prefer an appeal against these decisions to the CIC and the Honorable Courts.

Is the decision of CPIO IIT Madras and CIC correct.
