Change of name in property after marriage

(Querist) 09 August 2012 This query is : Resolved
Hi, I purchased a property jointly with my husband. The property is registered in my maiden name. Now I am changing my name and taking my husbands's surname. I am taking all the legal steps like publishing in official gazette . I wanted to know how to go about changing my name in the property. If we ever need to sell we may face issues so wanted to change all documents. Please advice.

You file an application to the concerned department( CTS authorities) to change your name

You need not change in the property ownership papers. As and when you want to sale the property, enclose the copy of Govt. Gezzette with the registered sale-deed so as to club the new name with the old one depicted on the property documents.

Thanks all.
Is the publication in gazette completely valid?
Just another issue once I change my name then when we sell the property the cheque can be made by the purchaser in my new name?
The property is currently under mortgage so should I change the home loan papers or it can continue as is.
Lastly if at all we need to change then which department should we approach - the property is in Delhi.
