If any leave (including study/EOL) taken by the employee during the probationary period, to that much extent the probationary period will be extended. Therefore, decide by yourself.

Dear Narayan,

In Central Government, Study Leave can be granted to a Government servant who has satisfactorily completed period of probation and has rendered not less than five years’ regular continuous service including the period of probation under the Government.

Extraordinary Leave up to the maximum limit of THREE MONTHS can be granted on any one occasion to a Government servant, who is not in a permanent employment or quasi permanent employ.

A person appointed to a post on probation shall be entitled to leave as a temporary or a permanent Government servant ACCORDING AS his appointment is against a temporary or a permanent post.

So, you will not be eligible for Study Leave due to the minimum service condition of 5 years. You can also be granted EOL up to 3 months only, as you have not completed on year's service.

Even for study purposes, where the provision exists for 24 months' EOL, you would need to complete 3 years of regular service.

But, in any case, your probation period would extend for the period of leave.

I completely agree with Dhingra ji.

That Study Leave is also available only to a Direct Recruit Officer of Group-A and not for others and certainly not for a nursing staff which is not a Group-A category post.

AT present all state and central govt. employees are appointed on casual basis on probation, first go through your appointment letter, otherwise you will be in dilemma.
