Display of Name Board on my car

(Querist) 29 July 2011 This query is : Resolved
I am president for a NGO. Can I display "President- NGO's Name" on my car? If so is there any specifications? What are the relevent provisions of law?
R.Ramachandran (Expert) 29 July 2011
Will you be putting it up like an Advertisement Hoarding on top of the Car or where?
Jainodin shaikh (Expert) 29 July 2011
it is not illegal at all!
but don't put it on the number-plate.
K.S.Srinivas (Expert) 29 July 2011
As long as it is not displayed on the number plate it is not illegal.
Jee Education (Querist) 30 July 2011
Mr. Srinivas & Mr. Shaikh, Thanks for your quick response. And Mr. Ramchandran, I believe that a name board is not a hoarding by any defenition and convention and I have less time to joke as I work with a serious and ethical NGO.
R.Ramachandran (Expert) 30 July 2011
I am equally very serious Mr. Jeevan. I do not assume things. I ask for details before giving answers.

This fellow asking for advice and arrogant that he has no time so others have time.

It appears that after having the benefit of subsequent opinion of two other experts, the author preferred to throw mud on an Expert who has first attended to his question by raising relevant details. If this is the language of the "so called President of the NGO", one can only lament of the fate of the NGO concerned. Considered legal opinion cannot be expected by anyone without providing complete facts and details and the one who seeks guidance & opinion from others should have been more polite !

***I have less time to joke as I work with a serious and ethical NGO.****ARE THE WORDS OF author : Jeevan .

YET HE HAS DESIRE OF A "SHOW OFF"
DEFENSE ADVOCATE.-firmaction@g (Expert) 31 July 2011
The replies were polite by most of the experts but I want to add stern warning that is if such so called President displays name plate on vehicle without permission of RTO , it is offense under Motor vehicle act and if the NGO is not registered or he not the the legal person than criminal complaint can also be filed.

Mr.Jeevan,
Mr.Ramachandran is a senior expert and helps many with his point blank expert advices. The question itself prima facie, if any one presumes, is posed by a person who does not have any work or who wants "show-off" business. NGO by its definition and understanding is not meant for "show-off". It is meant for work. The thought of putting a name board on the car might be for two purposes - one is for advertisement purpose - we do not the cause for which you are working as President of NGO - some times the cause might be such, it requires advertisement - second presumption is "show-off". You should not have used this forum for "show-off" business and we do not expect people using this forum for such activity. The other one is for genuine advertisement purpose - that is what Mr.Ramachdran might have presumed - for which he requires further details. Please be polite while dealing the persons if you really wish to pursue your cause in noble manner.

All my friends( As I assume they are) Thank you all for teaching me how to behave by going to the iirrelevent areas and finding enough time push it into an explosive zone, may be in an attempt to add one more answer to their kitty to show off. I am a humble person but putting my position on a car can help others to by pass many procedural difficulties in time. Now, each person has the liberty to think what they feel fit, you all have the liberty to think how that will help others to bypass procedural difficulties and keep this thread alive. I repeat I am thankful to the people those who give me the answers and will be thank full to others if they find enough time for some constructive answers for other questions. Anyway, I am keeping this as resolved and there won't be any more comments
