does it apply to wife only or her parents also?
if it does how is giving dowry a crime

As per The Dowry Prohibition Act, giving of dovery due to pressure of taker is no offence on the part of giver.

in complaint they have mention, boy side did not make any demand of dowry still they have 400 gram of gold, would this amount to dowry or stridhan.

This privilege is given to aggrieved person who gives statements in cased covered by this act.


And aggrieved person is defined in Cr.P.C. as victim in section 2 (WA).

so if husband file a complaint, he was given dowry without asking for it, then FIL and MIL can be subjected to prosecution
