It is a crime under m v act as well.
Kiran Kumar (Expert) 24 June 2011
Ravi has rightly observed that driving vehicle without insurance is itself an offence under Motor Vehicle Act, however for the purpose of liability under M V Act the subsequent insurance will be of no consequence/ help.
Advocate. Arunagiri (Expert) 24 June 2011
If the vehicle is not insured you have to pay the claim and you can be penalised for not insuring the vehicle.

Insurance done latter will not help you.
