different name in property document

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 30 May 2011 This query is : Resolved
i have my land documents in a different name then the name i use currently .. how do i make up for it ..i do not waant to change my current name and i beleive changing name in the land document will be cumbersome ... please advise what do i do in such circumstances

If your name change has been published in the gazzette. (Name change requires publishing the same in the gazzette). Keep the lands in your old name as it is and while selling or doing anything in the land, please include your alias name and also copy of the gazzette by which your name change is official and authorised. However you can also give a representation to the registrar along with the gazzette copy, provide proper identification of yourself and seek the change of name in the documents.

Mr. g.s Rajan seems to have correctly opined for you.your options are:
1)leave things as they are and when occasion comes to deal with your property address your self by both names[such as i so and so(your name in land record)ALIAS so and so(your current name) along with the record proving your name change]and every thing will go well and law full.
2)move before record keeping authority file a petition for name change substitution producing the evidence you have in this regard and your present name shall be ordered to be substituted in place of your old name.

Thanks Mr. Rajan and Mr. Singh for the response. Is option 2 feasible if the property is in dispute in the courts for the ownership of the property
