notary/attestation

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 25 April 2011 This query is : Resolved
what is the difference btw Notary n attestation... when notary need to b done n when attestation?
Guest (Expert) 25 April 2011
Even notary is also attestation by a legally appointed Notary, but by paying stamp duty in the shape of notarial stamp affixed on the document, instead of ordinary attestation from other authorised attesting authorities without any stamp duty. Ordinarily, legal documents, like affidavits or personal statements, are notarised while copies of documents, like academic qualification certificates, Mark Sheets, or other existing documents are attested by any ateesting authority without any notarial stamp fee.
