Lay-off under Shops and establishment Act

An employer (a service organisation) who is covered under shops and establishment Act, if wants to lay-off his employees, what are the provisions of law applicable to him?

Dear Srinivasanchitra,

In my view Lay off comes under Industrial dispute act. but iam not conifirming that employees come under shops and commercial establishment act having the right of Layoff. We have to do the reasearch on this querry. if i get some thing i will intimate you.

Mr. Desai is correct. you shall come under the purview of ID Act for the purposes of lay off so check whether you are an industry under the definition given in Sec 2 (j).
the definition is very vide and includes almost all the establishments.
