sir, i would like to know that a private limited company can hire lawyers for providing legal services?

and if yes, then can that private limited company can represent any clients in the courts of law?

Dear User,

First you should understand the purpose of hiring a lawyer. Pvt Ltd company hires a lawyer for their company business purpose.

If they start providing legal services, it will become a law firm. As per memorandum of acrticles & AOA, you can run only the specified line of business.

I will give you a better example. hiring a doctor in your company.. it doesn't mean you can open a clinic in your company or doing a surgery or operation.

The lawyer hired by a company can represent only his client company about its business matters and not any third party, i.e., the clients of the client. In other words, if the company adopts such a practice that intends to illegal diversion of funds of the company for some purposes other than its own business or profession in the shape of illegal expenditure to evade taxes or swindle away the money of the stakeholders.

If the company's object is to provide legal/secretarial services and the lawyers have been hired for carrying out the same function. Then definitely they can provide legal services to the company's clients. They are many companies in India which does the same.
