(Querist) 09 March 2011 This query is : Resolved
Can anybody provide me the authority in which court has taken cognizance against the person who has given the Dowry(Except Neera Singh) and kindly explain me the aggrevied person under sec 7 of Dowry Prohibition act.
Guest (Expert) 09 March 2011
Both the giver and taker of dowry are treated as offenders under Sec.3 of the Dowry Prohibition Act. Whether or not taken even demanding of dowry is prohibited u/s 4 of the Act.

Aggrieved person is he, who lodges a complaint under the provisions of the Act.

It is true that in the case titled Neera Singh vs. NCR State of Delhi was only decided to take similar action against complainant side means wife and per parents and even it was decided to bring the matter of giving such huge dowry in cash to income tax department by court itself. No similar law is found on the same lines thereafter.
