how long does anticipatory bail last. is an FIR required to get one

Dear Anonymous,
Anticipatory bail is a prelude to the Regular bail. It can be conditional as well it lasts when the stipulated condition (including but not limiting the time limit) or otherwise the matter becomes infructuous or the person procures the regular bail.
Best Regards

It last as long as it is said to be by the order of the court. The petitioner will have to surrender for regular bail within the time as mentioned in the order granting the anticipatory bail. If the petitioner does not do so then the order gets lapsed and further order is needed to obtain in that respect.
