Indian Contract Act

(Querist) 20 July 2010 This query is : Resolved
Is valid to print on the back side of Stamp paper? It is generally seen that the back side of stamp paper is generally kept vacant by lawyers.

I do not think that back side of the Stamp paper must be kept vacant - But it became practice to all of us , we generally do not right /type/print on the back side of the Stamp paper/s - it may be probably that Stamp particualrs on the face of the page should be clear /visible!
S. Bharath (Expert) 20 July 2010
S. 13 of the Stamp Act lays down that the instrument using impressed stamp [stamp paper] should be written in such manner that the stamp would appear on the face of the instrument.

This must be the reason why only the face of the stamp paper is used for printing.
Sarvesh Kumar Sharma Advocate (Expert) 22 July 2010
it is valid to print on the bake of stamp paper if that is identified and recognised properly.
