Possession of land

Our late mother bought some plots in Dist. Fatehpur, U.P. about 22 years back, but till date we the surviving legal heirs could not get the possession over the said plots, actually, we dont know even the exact location of the plots in the concerned piece of land. Can we compel the district authorities to locate our plot in the concerned piece of land and let us have the possession over the said plots. Because, we paid stamp duty and registration fee etc to the state govt. and as such they must be responsible to let us have our due and legal rights.

As per your query the property (vacant land) was purchased by your mother 22 years back. after purchase of said property why did not you go for mutuation? In the registered document, the property details will be noted. so consult an approved surveyor and show him the documents. or submit an application along with copy of document to the Mpl/Panchayat/rev. concerned authorities for survey of your property.

Mutation of property has been done years back.....but problem is several constructions have been erected on the land and it has become difficult to recognise the plots

Why and where were (all ) you sleeping for 22 years after purchase of plot from government but never bothered for possession? If there is some encroachment on the land it would be "adverse possession" of the occupier.
Show the documents to a local prudent lawyer for appreciation of facts, guidance and proceeding.

there is nobody in the world who wants to sleeps on such issues.......it was due the fact that the vendor of the plot is not doing anything to locate the plots to us and we the heirs were so young at the time of purchase of the plots to understand such matters....
