I want to sell my flat in a registered society, society is asking me to publish the add in two newspaper before giving noc.
Is it legal for society to demand such advertising

GO thru society bye laws framed in accordance with Model Bye Laws in state.
Generically speaking; The demand of society is in your long term interest also..
The publication may not cost much!

The society management can never ask such obligation from vendor of a flat, if there is some truth in your query challenge it before appropriate authorities. It is illegal and invalid.

The demand of society is in your long term interest also..
Therefore there is NO harm in releasing advt., even if society has not asked for IT.
If there are NO bye laws as already mentioned and demand is mentioned just for the heck of IT , you can decline. If demand is in writing, you can decline in writing under proper acknowledgment.
To contest the demand made just for the heck of IT decline on face of society office bearers and ask to write to you.
