capital punishment for economic offence

(Querist) 21 May 2009 This query is : Resolved
we know for counterfeiting currency notes the punishment may extend upto life imprisonment as the offence endangers the whole economy of the country.the seriousness of the crime is apparent as murder is punishable with death or life imprisonment. considering that the economy of a man can ruin his life and thus kill one, should not some economic offences be punishable with death?

I do agree that Counterfeit offences should be treated at par with 'waging war against India'

Ur right economic offences should be punished with capital punishment., but it is not posssible in india, becuse politicians are behind such offences. And in india every law will be violated.

I beg to differ with the views that capital punishment is need of the hour for economic offences. Im against capital punishment for any crime.
Uma parameswaran (Expert) 23 May 2009
Capital punishment is awarded only in the society having a judiciary and the investigating system works beyond pressure, partiality ,corruption, threat or other form of inducement from rich and powerful .Under the veil of authority for protecting criminals’ investigators replace them with innocent people as criminals. It is rarely can see discipline, commitment, objectivity and the traditional values such as simplicity charity, wisdom and mutual respect in the system. The imposition of death punishment by apex court because it is final court and not because it is infallible. Is a wife has the right to kill her Inebriate husband if he is ruining the family economy and the life of other members in the family?
A Truthseeker (Querist) 23 May 2009
Madam Uma,

probably we are confusing the issue. an inebriate husband also ruin the family economy and thus may kill the members of the family but here the cancerous element is conspicuous and he may be dealt with at will and above all other members need not be wholly dependent economically upon him as their economic connection with him is microscopic and not macroscopic. it is something like closing a private nursing home and hospital. moreover crime is punishable only by State , so as an individual a wife can not kill her inebriate husband.however, you are right that an inebriate person may at times be termed as a criminal as sec-510 IPC envisages.
