A vacation bench comprising of Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Ajay Rastogi has agreed to hear the writ petition filed by four Hyderabad-based students - Kayathi Mohan Reddy and three others through their advocate Mahfooz Nazki.

The petition claimed that 4 questions in the NEET UG 2019( National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for the graduate and postgraduate medical and dental courses) were incorrectly set and were out of the NCERT syllabus.

The petitioners submitted in their petition that after going through the answer key published by the NTA (National Testing Agency) on May 29, they were shocked to find out that a number of questions were incorrect. On May 30, representation was sent pointing out the errors in the official answer key. Subsequently, a revised answer key was published on June 5. To the shock of the petitioners, the answer key continued to contain errors and moreover some answers that were notified as correct earlier were then changed to wrong.

The students claim that these errors can jeopardize prospects of lakhs of students, who had appeared for the exam. The petition further stated that the respondents have failed to rectify the errors in the question paper and have also refused to accept any representations sought to be made by the petitioner in the revised key.

The candidates sought a direction to quash the final answer key published on June 5 by the NTA.
