Charges Framed In Aquem Murder Case 11 Feb 2009, 0112 hrs IST, TNN Text: MARGAO: District and sessions court, Margao, on Tuesday ordered that charges be framed against Sunny Khanuja and Abhay Verma both accused in the sensational double murder of Madhya Pradesh natives Rajendra Jamne, 34, and Monu Pathak, 22, at Raj Vihar housing society, Aquem, on August 10, 2008. The court while hearing the case for arguments before charge, ordered that charges be framed under Section 302 of the IPC against both the accused, even as advocate for the accused, Rajiv Gomes, argued that Abhay Verma was innocent and that there was no evidence against him. Public prosecutor Asha Arsekar held that a prima facie case exists against both the accused considering the evidence on record, and the test identification parade wherein two of the witnesses identified both the accused. The prosecution held that the said evidence is sufficient to frame charges against the accused under Section 302 of the IPC. The case of the prosecution is that both the accused in furtherance of their common intention, came to Margao from Madhya Pradesh on August 10, 2008, at 11 am and arrived at the flat of the deceased and committed the murder of Rajendra with a kirpan and strangulated Sonu with a nylon rope after hitting her head against the bed.
