On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, Smt. Krishna Tirath, Minister for Women and Child Development will preside over a panel discussion on the subject ‘Role of Women Panchayati Raj Members and Youths as Ahimsa Messengers for Safety of Women’. A significant feature of the panel discussion is that women Panchayat leaders from more than 65 gram sabhas will participate in the seminar and discussion.
The panel discussion will also have eminent speakers from various walks of life. Ms. Chhavi Rajawat, sarpanch of the gram panachayat from Soda, Rajasthan will speak on ‘Role of Panchayati Raj Institutions in the safety of women’. Whereas, Ms. Nandita Bhatla will address the gathering on ‘Involvement of youth by PRIs for creating awareness on violence against women’. Ms. Suman Nalwa, Addl. DCP, Special Police Unit for Women and Children will be speaking on the topic- ‘Role of police in ensuring safety of women’. Ms. Charu Wali Khanna, Member, NCW will address the audience on ‘Role of National and State commissions for women on the issue of Safety of women’.
The seminar will take place at the Committee Room B of the Vigyan Bhawan Annexe, New Delhi on 8th March between 2-4 pm.
