trouble by first owner of farm land.

We have bought farmland, 5 years ago. But, the former owner is now asking us to return to the place. They are telling us that you have not given us a check as per the transaction. And at that time they told us that, you give me money in hand, we give it and they are troubling now. Can they cancel the transaction?
