i have produced a educational audio cd of a indian classical music.The underlying musical compositions with grafical notations are taken from a book witch is published as a study / syllabus of a reputed old musical mahavidyalaya.This book is referred & widely used for teaching purpose all over the world.The compositions ,even today,are being generally taught in almost all classes.using the'scriptt' for producing audio recording -does it attracts copyright act?
is it an offence as a infringmet ?
The book is in use for more than 80yrs,the auother of witch has died 20 yrs back.
The auother is not a writter but he has collected all traditional compositons,compiled & then published.
The legal hair,on request orally denied the permission to use.
who can comment on this?
