registered rent agreement

I'm living in a rented aptt in Vasant Kunj for past 1 1/2 yrs now .. I need to make a registered rent agreement with my landlord for renewal of my passport. .I've been told by my friends 2 go 2 Kapaseda with my landlord for this..now can someone plz tell me what is the total procedure. .also how much do I need to pay (also what to do if my landlord is not willing to pay his half) .. Plus total duration of the procedure. .& whom to meet exactly. .

Procedure. Your landlord must have to come personally to the registrar office. He will not pay a single paisa for registering thr need (Why will he pay as he doesnt need it and only you need it). Cost: Approx 3.4% of your monthly rent x duration of lease + advance + deposit If that amount is less than 1 lakh, 1000 registration fees. Hire a good lawyer as he will get it.done for minor fees of 2-3k + actual cost.
