portion of my land occupied by my neighbours

I have around 4 acre 10 guntas of land. Out of which around 2 acres is occupied by my neighbours from at least more than 50 years. Both of us have the original map of our lands. In comparing both the maps it shows that 2 acres belongs to us. But my neighbour claims that since he has occupied the land from more than 50 years the land. after I approached survey department, they did survey and us survey map with related documents after when surveyer came to boundary fixation with police protection they didn't allowed to occupied land for boundary fixation and police department also helpless to stop them and next I approached lawyers for this issue, they told it is long process to your ownership . what is solution for this issue please suggest me.
