how to file case against badmouthing

a young woman of a locally influential man was travelling in the same public transport.a man seated nearby was aware whose daughter she was.he had ill relation with her father & brothers.to revenge upon them he started badmouthing the men of her house to the extremest level.despite her protest he did not stop till she got down at her stoppage....which legal ways are suitable for her in this case?
