I had two credit cards on my name and had settled them way back in 2004-2005. Last week I got a call from a recovery agency saying there was a huge oustanding on these two cards. I told them i have settled the two cards many years back. They said no settlement was done on the two cards.
So I asked them why they have got up after so many years. They said they were tracking me since many years and i was untraceable. They tried sending letters to my residence regarding outstandings, but i never received any such letters.
My question is if i settled these cards, why wasnt the same updated in their system. When there was an outstanding few years back recovery guys were chasing me and i settled the outstanding on the cards. Post which i never got any calls and now they are refusing about any such settlements.
Now the biggest problem is a lot of our documents were spoiled due to excessive rains during 2005. And currently the documents are untraceable.
Kindly suggest what is the best way out of this as i do not wish to pay for something that i have not paid. I have sincerely paid, they have not updated their accounts, it is the banks mistake.
