Issuing of motor policies by agents

Hello,

I am working as an agent for a general insurance company.   Recently, the company has introduced portals for the agents and have permitted to issue Motor Policies.   They have given the login ID also.  But they are not issuing any  letter, even an email,  authorizing me to issue the policies.   Even when I asked for an authorization letter, they said , you are the only one who is asking for a letter.   Others are issuing policies.

I am of the opinion that I have been appointed as agent to procure business but not to issue policies or sign documents (policies) on behalf of the company.  Is my opinion correct?  Should I insist for the letter?  Will it be in order for me to issue the policies?   Please help me as I do not want to get into legal problems later.  Thanks.
