Important Query

It has been come into the normal practice that any witness come to the witness box and give statement. I want to know that as we seen lots of movies that a person should take the holi book "Geeta" before giving statement"Jo kahunga/gi sach kahunga". Is this necessary in the eyes of law?? If yes can anybody provide me any citation on that contestation that the PW did not do this before giving statement..

Filmy dialogues not necessary, only oath is enough.
