ownership of land

I have a land in nasik which was my great grand fathers
I have not been there for many years.
the panchayat of the village has started farming on my land
can I get ownership of my land again?

sir before I send you the documents is it possible?
because this is a case of an officer of the fire department and I can't ask for documents till I am very sure it is possible
