Sir,

I am a businessman dealing in newspapers and magazines.

I receive a lot of coins from the hawkers who sell my newspapers. I am getting around  Rs. 4000/-  in coins.

But while going to deposit them in the bank, they accept only Rs 1000/- and that too 2/-, 5/, and 10/- coins. They refuse to

accept 1/- coins. They don't care even for showing circular issued by RBI to accept coins of all denominations.

Please let me know, what action I can take in this matter and how can I persuade them to accept coins.

Can I file a FIR if they don't agree?

This is not a criminal case. Hence no FIR.  You can complain to the banking Ombudsman. But before writing to the Ombudsman, write a letter of complaint to the Bank Manager and find out what he says. Ask him to give a written reply.
