Asset Case

The famous asset case against Tamilnadu CM which is going in Bengaluru, came to an end and judgement shall be pronounced on this saturday. In TN CM convicted in this case, whether she has to step down as CM or any appeal shall be entertainable ? I request our elite members of this forum show some light on this case.

As per a recent decision of the Supreme Court in the case of Lily Thomas v. Union of India, (2013) 7 SCC 653, on conviction in a corruption case, a person would be immediately losing his or her MLA or MP seat as soon as conviction order is passed. Therefore, continuing in the CM post on conviction may not be possible.
