shrikant v. sathe (retired)     21 October 2017

Can the staff of the bank attend the agm?

Sir,

Can a staff of the bank attend the Annual General Meeting held by the Chairman? The meeting is held only for shareholders and it is seen that the staff of the bank regularly sit on the chairs of the shareholders. . The staff is employed only for arrangements for meeting, they are not supposed to sit on the dias or chairs inside the hall .In my opinion only Chief executive officer can attend the meeting.. What is your opinion? Please also quote any legal section regarding this. I have searched a lot but did not find it.

Thanking you

Yours Faithfully

If there is oppression of minor share holder then only you may move to NCLT

Mr. Sathe's concern is not clear, why he wants to know all that and for what purpose legal section has been sought to be quoted by him.

The staff of the co-op. bank are not shareholder, therefore they should not be permitted to enter into the meeting hallAs in the meeting, some confidential debate may happen so their presence in the hall may leak the information to the defaulters of the bank. For arrangement their presence in the hall hall is justifiable, but when the meeting starts they should vacate the hall and sit outside the hall.
