conviction on the basis of sole confession

Can a conviction can be given on the basis basis of sole confession ?  Pl give some supreme court authorities

On the basis of the confession accused can be convicted.

During the trial accused pleads guilty of an offence, cannot absolve him to be freed from

punishment, the nature and quantum, shall be depending on the commission of offence.

yes an accused should be convicted on the basis of sole confession but only when the confession is judicial .

In some cases the extra judicial  confession can be taken into consideration for corroboration. a tainted  week kind substance.  So that I am searching for  the rulings (case laws)
