Raj Kumar Makkad (Adv P & H High Court Chandigarh)     29 April 2010

SOREN DOES IT AGAIN

THE Bharatiya Janata Party is rightly incensed about Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren breaking ranks during the party's failed cut motion against the United Progressive Alliance government on Tuesday. But the BJP, which has since withdrawn support to his government, has only itself to blame for supping with Mr Soren whose track record shows that a desire for power is the only consideration guiding his politics.

And if the party has learnt its lesson the hard way, we wonder what the Congress party is up to if reports about its deal with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha are correct.

Not very long ago, the Congress took the high moral ground on the issue of joining a coalition headed by Mr Soren as chief minister.

Now it is seeing some " secular" virtues in him. Reports suggest it may now allow Mr Soren's son Hemant to lead a coalition government with its support in Jharkhand.

The entire cut motion episode — which also saw the BSP, Samajwadi Party and RJD surprisingly put their lot behind the UPA — is another illustration of the cynicism that pervades our polity where rank opportunism rather than any principle determines who is on what side of the ruling alliance.

Raj,

A professional should always avoid temptation of "PARTY SPECIFIC POLITICAL AFFILIATION"

shibu soren voted the congress under the pressure of his cbi cases.

lalu, mulayam & mayawati also charged by cbi.

The people of India exercise their political power through their representatives at parliament. if cbi charged persons or other prosequted persons are allowed to vote, they may easily be trapped by the party in government. therefore the people will be deprived from exercising the power.

all these four party heads, compailed to vote in favour of rulling party at centre.- at atomic energy debate and latest, in this time. though they and their followers showed their anger and grivences against the rulling party. but their stand is really contradictory.and contradict their party decleared policy.

till such people are allowed to vote at parliament,  a section of the people, of the india whom they represent, will be deprived from exercising their legitimate political power to use.

what is the legal way to out?

That's why the provision of "NEGATIVE VOTE" should be exercised on priority as early as possible so the people will have option to reject such opportunist persons who uses politics like a business deal and sale their voters.

In continuance with my first opinion..  I discussed with some people regarding "VOTE FOR NONE OF THEM" and someone told me that in case we don't want to vote for anyone out of standing candidates we can ask to Presiding Officer of the Polling Booth and he will have to give another form to fill up and that counts as a "VOTE FOR NONE OF THEM".  It is only a information which I got and needs to be verified with provision.  If it is correct eventhough it is not enough.  A clear option should be there on ballot paper.

Consider this. A strong Congress leader was deafeted by an Independent candidate after a tough fight, but the Congress Top brass in order to form a Government roped in some of those Independent candidates and formed the government and those Indpendent candidates were given cabinet berth in the Ministry. But those Independent now Congress Minister totally side lined the real Congress party workers who were stunch supporters of congress for many years, as result though Congress Ministry were formed many of its party workers were totally neglegted in the hands of those Independent/Congress Ministers, in this scenario where is the position of those Congress workers who becamwe opposition when their party came to power? Where is the morality of Politics in India?

Jharkhand is becoming joke. Corruption is at it's zenith. Who will look at it? Honest and law abiding peoples are either leaving this state or are mute spectator. All national parties are taking this state for a ride.

Dear Mr. Arup, please stop expecting from them and the individual citizen should step up at their part.  People only expects from other instead of taking initiatinve for protecting their rights as clearly given by the Constitution.  People like to be "MUTE SPECTATOR" and therefore they are being entertained accordingly.  Please do not take it otherwise.
