Redg. Validity of Online Death Certificate

Hi

I am a resident of Hyderabad. My father died recently in Chennai and accordingly his death has been registered with Chennai Municipal Corporation.

The Chennai Municipal Corporation is now making available the Birth Certificates (BC) & Death Certificates (DC) online only and not issueing sealed/stamped certificates and any number of copies can be printed of the same. The same also can be verified by anyone from their website.

Since, the DC is a required document by insurance companies,  banks, postal savings, etc. and since there is no seal/stamp, would these authorities accept such a certificate which has a line "The registration of death can be verified online in the official website of Chennai Municipal Corporation www.chennaicorporation.gov.in."

If not, please suggest the way out.

Thanks and regards

if it is displayes by appropriate authority on its wesite, there is no reason for insurance and other authorities to reject it.

Sam has rightly clarified the position. The authorities are bound to accept the digital online certificate and has the option of verifying the same through the website.vasudevan

Hi,
If by printing the Onoien Certificate the HEADER / FOOTER reveal IP Address n URL path then it can't be challenged under Cyber Law n or in any court of Law.

It is a valid Certificate if there is a disclaminer attached to a nic.in GOI / State Department website.

However, to save time in to / fro justification during succession related issues it is better to RTI Municipal Corporation with Que such as the ones you asked. let Municial Corporation give True Copy answers with stamp n seal of PIO which will weigh as supplimentary annexures during succession matters with other Authorities at the time of convincing them
All the best.
