Sathyan A.R. ( Advocate practising tax advisor)     22 October 2010

christian womens right to property

More than 24 years afer the petitioner Marry Roy won a battlle befoer the Supreme court which held on 24th FEbruary,1986, that  the Indian succession ACt,.1925 applied to the syrian christians of kerala too, and they are therefore entitled to share of property in equal with male siblings, a sub court in Kotayam on 20.10.2010 executed the final decree in favour of the litigant Mary Roy, mother of Arundati Roy writer and womens right crusader. Marry roy is 75 yrs now.

The question to ponder over is that when god is plesed the pires takes his own time. otherwise what will one think of the 24 yrs long wait for geting the decree executed.

This raises the eficacy of our lower courts which are immune to the sufferings of litigants.
